I've been trying to get access to Swarkstone Gravel Pits near Derby. Hit a brick wall in the form of the sailing club there. The fishing syndicate were quite interested. Good Pike and Perch in there :-(

Perhaps non-sailing days, mid- week Ian?

I fished Gunthorpe weir on Sunday, nice stretch of water between there and Hazleford. If you look at Boat Lane, Bleasby there's a very nice concrete slipway there and as a bonus its free. Going upstream on the opposite bank from the slip Scunthorpe Pisces own the fishing rights up to the tree line. I usually fish the tree line all the way up to Gunthorpe and have a hour or so in the weir as well. Had some good summer days up there.

Not me, I launched from Bleasby. The only other boat I saw was my mates dory and they were from Bleasby as well. They may have gone upstream through the locks. Phil

I was going to call in at bleasby and take a look at the slip way, does the water at the slip way drop away fast or is it shallow on the edge.

Perhaps non-sailing days, mid- week Ian? Tried that....
A flat 'no fishing from boats is allowed'
I've asked the guy at the fishing syndicate to try and get them to review the rule at the next AGM.
Not holding out much hope though!
