A few weeks before heading off to Sweden I was sat in the bath thinking of what lures I need to take with me, then I thought what silly lures could I catch on. My wife has a little collection of rubber ducks sat by the bath, mmmm, could I rig a rubber duck with treble hook and catch a Pike? Only one way to find out! Rubber duck was rigged up with wire and a treble hook, and the all important kitchen sink full of water test had to be done, she floats! I also had a kitchen lure and a pair of plastic boobs Could I catch the weird lure grand slam whilst in Sweden? During the second half of the holiday we fished a river/lake system, the river section held a lot of Pike so was my best chance of getting the slam. First was the boobs, I knew this was going to be difficult as it was just a pair of boobs and an aberdeen hook! Well after 15mins of working it as a surface popper a jack Pike bolted out of the weeds and engulfed it! 1 out of 3 done: Next was the kitchen sink, this one should be a little easier though it's basically a plastic block. Didn't seem to bother the Pike, I had 3 different Pike go for it though the first two were useless as missed the lure! Third Pike however was more determined! After 5 attemps I finally hooked up! 2 out of 3; Finally it was the rubber duck's turn, like the other two lures the rubber duck was worked as a surface lure but again there is only so much action you can add to a rubber duck! However I managed to find two Pike that took a liking to the rubber duck 3 out of 3 (and all caught within an hour!) I have a video of the first Pike on the rubber duck and at the time it was my biggest of the holiday so I was very happy So I did it, the weird lure grand slam!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=geJnd2YsfLo&index=3&list=PLqdX4RELoh6WrC3w1gkjJbLcfOA5EYXn7

This is all wrong. Lures are technical pieces of equipment that need millions of £££ in development and what we then need to spend all our hard earned cash on to get the best! Pike are very intelligent creatures that have to be deceived using all our craft, skill and experience. Aren't they? Ian

This will get Daz over to Skeggy looking through the beach front shops sourcing naff key rings to turn into lures.
