After just about two years of trying I gained permission to open up a disused slipway on the tidal Trent at Littlrborough, near Gainsborough and Retford. We hired some plant last week and the slip was dug out and put back into use. The postcode for the slip is DN22 0HD. A word of warning though, it's the tidal river and can be very dirty at times with silt. The parking is good but low tides could see you struggling to get back on the slip at low water.

Very well done Phil. Is it going be suitable for the sibs and what are the target fish in this area, I assume pike-----------zander perhaps ??.

Nice one Phil. Any charges or boat licence requirements?

No charges, but I'm looking to get it gated to stop the jet skiers in the summer. Yes CRT licences and insurances are required on all waterways. Phil

An update on the slipway, over the past few weeks there has quite a bit of silt deposited on the slipway so be careful and be prepared for getting dirty. Also check out the tides for Owston Ferry and add a hour to give high and low water at Littleborough, the best access is fishing before and just after high water which will put water within the confines of the slipway. On the plus side everyone fishing from the slip has caught there's nothing big yet but decent pike and perch with good zander always probable.

It varies on the tide height, in normal river conditions a 1.5m tide will barely wet the slipway while a 3.5m tide fills it. I would be tempted to only fish 2m plus tides and try say 4hrs before high water to go in and be keeping my eye on the situation 2hrs after high water. In the summertime I would just go anyway, as it will be cleaner and hopefully warmer water.
