I have just returned from a week in Suffolk. On the way home we stopped for lunch at a superb hotel in Beccles right on the bank of the Waveney. I popped into the local tackle shop to ask what the score was for bank fishing and the response was it is free from bank or boat in that area. A guy passed us while having lunch outside and I had a chat while he was in his boat, he also said it was free fishing so here is my question. Does anyone here fish the Waveney in this area who could give me the low down on launch sites and bank rules for when I go down again over the Christmas period which will be bank lure fishing. Next year I will be taking the sib with me so I have to sort out a river ticket for the sib which is fair enough at around £20 for the week so no big deal if we make use of it.
Any feed back would be good. Thank you in advance

I have launched from Beccles Phil. A cracking paddle upstream and about three miles up is a lovely remote pub with real ale. If you plan your paddle to coincide with the flood and the ebb it's even easier. Snapper put me on to it and is a regular there. Terry

Of course, Mark, never thought of him, I will give him a call and have a chat. Next year it will be the sib so no problems about timing for the flow of the river.
It looks to be a great venue. I saw what I think was a number of good sized chub which may take a lure. I bought a book by John Wilson,' The definitive guide on where to fish in Norfolk and Suffolk ', which does give some really good information although I think it is a bit out of date but without knowing the area, it is difficult to know where the landmarks listed are situated so local knowledge is a must.

Phil, If you search for Fen Lane Beccles you will see a little slip on a small channel from the main river and just across a nearby bridge the is a large free carpark. Terry

I have just had a look at it Terry and I know where this one is, a few yards from the tourist information office. The only down side to this one is very limited parking ( 20 mins max ) and nowhere to leave a trailer but thanks mate. I had a chat with the harbour master on Sat who gave me the low down.
If you look at google maps, Puddingmoor, just off Northgate, you can see the Waveney House Hotel we go to. A must visit place Terry next time you go down there, cracking food, sun terrace overlooking the river with the fish in easy sight.

Steph and I had lunch there. Very nice but I should have been looking at her but couldn't take my eyes off the river. Terry
