Just a quickie, I start my kayak canal angling season in November fishing North West Canals up until March whilst the boat traffic is minimal.
My question is, how many other kayak anglers out there fish on canals during the winter months?
Cheers
Andrew

It looks like I will have miles of water to go at, not a single kayak anglers doing their thing on canals!
I fish for the following on my canal sessions depending on weather conditions;
Roach & Bream with a pole, breadpunch / pinkies
Perch & Roach with lobworms, bite indicator
Perch & Pike with small lures, 2 to 3 inch shads, grubs and finesse drop shot lures.
Perch & Pike with livebait (when allowed).
I cannot believe there are not more kayak anglers taking advantage of the great sport to be had from the relative shelter canal stretches offer in harsh winter conditions.

Not so quick Manchester!! Having read your reports, trawled utube for drop shot vids and as my mum in law's house backs on to the cut in Chester, reckon I'll be giving the canal a go. Not sure mother in law will wear me carting the yak through the house to launch off the patio, might have to wait till sh'e out! Some great pictures by the by. Take care

whats the rules on fishing rights around you around here only 1 club has the canal rights and not sure on what there rules are or if they allow you to fish of a yak as there rights are for the banks and half way into the water i think(not sure) and a canal ticket off them is £10 so if they allow i'm off to buy a canal ticket lol ,they got some good stretches and with plenty of zander and pike and miles and miles of canal....then again it might open the lakes up as well lol

All fishing rights for canal are for full width. If they allow kayak fishing then you must be moored to the towpath bank, no trolling. Definitely no grapnel anchors. You must have BCU or AT membership for a Navigation permit.

Yup. The thing I meant was that on the canal whoever has the rights has them for the full river not just mid point. It is very rare to grant rights to the opposite bank. Fishing FROM the far bank just like mooring there is not often allowed at all.
