I have just ordered some of these Savage Gear drop shot hooks. They look OK but have any of you tried them? What do you think? Terry

I bought a savage gear dropshot kit that had some of these hooks in it, but I haven't tried them. The shanks are very long though. One thing that also came with the kit was some elastic recoil braid. I've attached a clip by Mads Grosell showing how to rig up with these hooks and the recoil braid. The hooks look like they will set the lure off at more of a right angle than other hooks. The recoil braid seems to give the lure even more action although I haven't tried it myself yet. See what you think. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Eg-YRWnVt4Ian

Cheers Ian.
I have considered using bait elastic to give a recoil.
Hope they arrive before the weekend so I can give them a try.

I've seen them but can't see any advantage.
I've just bought some size 6 VMC drop shot hooks and they're quality.

I currently use the VMC hooks and have to agree they are very good and fill me with confidence.

Are they the ones with the swivel action? I have some of those too. I am just trying different styles and experimenting a bit. Terry

I have some with the swivel action but for normal use I just use the standard VMC dropshot hook. I got the swivel ones just in case I wanted an uptrace.

I looked at the video and how they are used but I confess when I first saw these in the Savage catalogue, I thought of using power gum either side of the tube to offer adjustment up-down the mainline.
