Hello lads. Although ive fished for about twenty odd years now, Kayak fishing is fairly new to me. Ive noticed that some people are ledgering off a kayak, and i was wondering how you get on with bite detection? Surley even if you are anchored up there will be a certain amount of movement in the boat? so can anyone tell me how you do this, I assumed we were restricted to either float fishing or lure fishing. I personally do a lot of trolling off the kayak as i like to cover water, but i do think that if i do find a good area i would like to stay there for a while. ATB Neil.

I often feeder fish off mine Neil. There are different methods that can be used but yes you are right most of the time there is some movement. On a river I use two anchors set from each end of the yak at angles and the current 'pushes' me into a reasonably tight position. Cam ( apologies if I have it wrong ) replaces one of the anchors with a bank stick. If I am moored close to the bank I will use a tree anchor or similar ( coarsekayakfishing.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=82 ) Or you can just tie off to the bankside vegetation. It all takes a bit of trial and error to see what suits you and your location best but give it a go it is another style you cane use. Terry

I used to feeder fish a lot with 10ft match rods placed in ram tubes next to my hip (this is where the positioning of ram tubes there came from as it allowed me a quick strike for gudgeon). Anchoring saw too much movement so I used to favour tying up to the bank where possible. It worked very well.
