For some time I have been curious about spinnerbaits and the fact that they don't hit the spotlight very often so does that make them crap. Well a bit of research found that these lures have been very successful both at home and in the US so I thought it was worth having a few in the tackle box as an alternative to my normal lures. One other thing became clear and that is that they do not tend to become tangled with weed and that is a real bonus at one of the venues I fish. A strong recommendation from Esoxuk was to contact a guy who makes spinnerbaits of quality so after a look at some of his products it was very clear that he uses only the best materials and a couple of chats with him saw me place an order for a few. This is my starter kit A few up close I have not found a suitable container so far as the compartment lure boxes just don't work so this little box will have to do for now until I find something better. I will be getting them wet next week all being well. Phil

I've found they work well, had a couple bigger perch on them too. I found white works well for me.

I have caught perch on them but don't use them a lot. My mate makes his own larger versions and he has had some nice pike on them in coloured water.

They are my go to lure on weirpools where their anti snag properties come in handy I've found black & white effective

I have caught quite well on spinner baits it always amazes me how they catch. As for storage depending on the size I use sea rig wallets to store them in.

Nice one Phil, I used to fish them a few years ago but not sure much now. Some people swear by them. I used to do pretty well on rivers with them.

Thanks guys, I like to keep an open mind and look forward to trying them and we do have to contend with coloured water as they keep messing around with the levels on the Ancolme so they may come into their own. One tip given to me by the guy who makes them was that they almost always fish better with a curly tail grub fitted. I need some more as I don't use these much so not much selection in the tackle box.
I will look for those plano boxes Phil because I think these are going to get in a right old tangle before long. I also thought about a rig wallet Graham and may still go that route.
I feel a trip to Chapmans Tackle coming on soon.

David Watkins Smith from Quantum says that these can be devastating at times. He loves them in shallow water.

First tried these years ago after reading that great lure book "Spinning & Plug Fishing" by Barrie Rickards and Ken Whitehead. Despite looking great in the water I didn't do any good with them. Persevered with them until one day something clicked and I suddenly started catching on them. I find that some waters seem to respond better than others. On one river they were devastating in coloured conditions for chub as well as pike. Don't be too quick to lift them from the water either - I have had some fantastic takes right under the rod tip. Black and red works for me.
