I suppose my feeder rod with a light tip would do but at around 10ft its for me anyway its plenty long enough.I would use it on and off the kayak and as for budget rod n reel about 100ish depends on a demo with Phil.Im also interested in the bug type lures thats why the twin tip korum might be an option if im right with my reasoning.

The problem with a feeder rod is the action, they tend to be too soft. They bend too much while winding in then snatch the weight forwards when the rod is loaded, which gives a dead feel. A fast action spinning rod would be a better alternative.

You will have a better feel for what you want Al after we get together and you can have a play with my gear, that doesn't sound right but you know what I mean. Both Phil and myself have the Dragon dropshot rods although different models and you can really see a big difference between a feeder rod and these. Give me a bell when you have finished work and we can sort out a day.

Last night we did eventully meet up with Phill at asby lake at scunny.Phil was kind enough to let me try his ultra lite lure and dropshot rods.I really liked the lite lure side of things and was quite taken with the size of the tiny lures that were been cast a fair distance without any extra weight added.A few fish were cought in a short time .I now know to treat the 2 different aspects of fishing each in thier own right. So i guess i will be on the look for ulta light lure rod set up first then maybe a drop shot later.Any way many thanks Phill for helping with yet another aspect of this ever growing hobby.cheers Phil.

This is such a fast growing side to the sport and whilst I have only just scratched the surface with limited knowledge although growing knowledge, I really love this type of fishing. Picking the right UL rod is not easy and as I have said before, manufacturers make their rods to very different specs with some being quite stiff and others being very soft with a whole load of others in between.
It was good to see you and Amy again and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was quite funny, Amy ( Alan's daughter ) kept handing one of the rods back to me terrified that she was going to break it. I think she felt better when I told her that I broke one of them within 2mins of putting it together.
One of the interesting things with this UL and dropshot methods of fishing is that no water is too small, no river/stream is too narrow so you find yourself looking for venues that anglers don't bother fishing because it does not meet the normal requirement but could be perfect for the likes of me with my mini lures.
