Had a lot of success with the Sidewinders etc. for sea fishing and liked the look of these. Got them from Go Outdoors for £6 which seems good value. Caught a perch within a minute first time out and 3 more in an hour's session on the Great Ouse. Like the Sidewinders, the lure is weighted so the hook stays uppermost which greatly reduces snagging on weeds. The main advantage in my view is that the single hook is far more fish-friendly than the usual trebles and I wasn't aware of any missed bites.

I think there are two size options for the 'perch kit' And int he other pack. There is a white minnow,in about 1&1/2" and it's the only lure from the pack that gets hit, or followed, by perch, and pike.

I saw someone who whipped a 2 lengths of strimmer line from the shank then loops them above the barb and threads them into the hole in the shad where the hook bend comes out.
It worked for him.

Shock leader for shore fishing works well. I used 60lb clear whipped on after putting a kink in the line which ensured the line stayed in place at the hook point. And cheap as chips.
