Hi everyone I just wanted to say a few words about the above event. First I was lucky enough to win the individual event and was a member of the winning team Many thanks to SWKA who organised a great competition and to the very generous sponsors who supplied the prizes. Below is a link to the Facebook page showing the results, the sponsors and some photos. www.facebook.com/llangorsekayakfishingcomp/?fref=photo Regards Graham "Jonah" Jones

I missed this years event but I know Ed Martin and the SWKA lads put a lot of work into organising Llangorse and getting the sponsors. They are a great bunchh. Are you doing Oxwich Graham? That is even bigger and better. Terry

Hi Terry
No, It will be just the freshwater events for me.
One of the guys (Roy I think) has done an excellent light hearted video of the day in general and the presentation afterwards. It's well worth a look. I will put up a link if I can find it again on YouTube.
Roll on Esthwaite !!

You should consider Oxwich.
It is a sheltered bay and light freshwater tackle will account for a lot of species, last year I had 7 including a trigger fish.
Are you doing the Pitsford event?

Pitsford is in the diary Terry, as is the WPC qualifier on Grafham two weeks later.
Two very exciting competitions on two great venues. I can't wait !!

If you are doing those then you must be doing Loch Ken too

Yes, Loch Ken as well Terry.
Last year was great, David did a great job and I managed to get the Biggest Perch prize.
The whole family came up last year, I think you were in the caravan next door to us.
Fingers crossed the weather is the same.

Ah! Yes of course! Sorry mate "old man syndrome". The coarse scene is growing well. Just need to keep the waters opening up. Hopefully Grafham will see the benefit of kayaks and give us general access after the WPC.

Many thanks Shaun
It was a great weekend. The company was great with everybody having a good old time in the Red Lion.
I hope Terry is right and these great venues "open up" to the growing Kayak course fishing branch of the sport.
By the way Shaun, what make is your Yak? It looked good in the water.

Shame the club on the site didn't open for us :/ It would of got alot messier haha
It's a rtm tempo, IMO there's much better platforms out there for coarse fishing though. After a Hobie revo13 next, expensive but fit for purpose.

Lads, You are right about the club site...that makes a great base for the evenings but then again the local boozer is great too. Last year Daz and I got there early and had a lunchtime meal there and it was lovely. The opening up of venues is always a struggle. Ravensthorpe took 5 years, Pitsford 6 and Rutland 7 and this is still being negotiated for the minor details which will hopefully be sorted in time for the start of pike fly fishing in mid May. The Tempo is a great kayak, I had one for appraisal for 9 months and loved paddling it but as a freshwater angler it just did not have enough space for me. It was super fast and despite people saying it cannot handle the larger angler it took me at 15 stone and 6ft tall very well. It was the best paddling SOT I have paddled for pure paddling. I can see the benefits it would offer for a sea angler carrying minimal tackle. Now for freshwater space, comfier and stability come to the fore and personally I think this is where the Hobies score. I do a lot of lure and fly fishing and being able to travel hands free makes a real difference. At this point I should declare that I am a member of the Hobie Team but that does not affect my confidence in pedalled kayaks. I will be at Pitsford, Grafham, Esthwaite and Loch Ken if anyone wants a try they would be more than welcome to use the Pro Angler. Shaun try ringing Steve Beard at Hobie UK. Whilst the Revo does not show often on the second hand market many owners upgrade through Steve and ask him if he knows of buyers for their old one. His number is 01202 671661 and he and his sidekick Kris are great guys and keen to help. Terry
