Not good but definitely all bad, After Shaun's (Theomen) comments on access at Llyn Brenig I though I would try a formal approach. I sent a very full and detailed email about our sport, our safety and current venues and events along with the request for access. The reply I received is below. Reading between the lines I see it as a " Not at the moment" rater than never. I have sent a full reply to their questions. We will have to see how things go. ============ Good Morning Terry, Many thanks for your email. Unfortunately we have a strict no Private Vessel Policy on our Waters, and any boat on the lake other than our fishing boats, are given permission through the Sailing club, and as members they are all insured on the water with their kayaks and sailing boats. However we are always on the lookout for new ventures, and I will certainly look into this idea with a hopeful mind. With the events you listed below, were they events where they were fishing from the kayaks, or simply kayak events? Also out of interest, what is the average charge for deploying a Kayak on a large reservoir for non-angling kayakers? Great work Terry, It's about as good a reply as I would have hoped for It's great that they've asked some constructive questions, almost seems as if they are already contemplating kayak access which appears to be the only problem. They also run the alwyn reservoir which is not far from Brenig. They don't have boats there which if a main concern is that kayakers may get in the way of boats while they are drifting or under power then the Alwyn negates that. To be honest the Alwyn Res is probably more flyak friendly than Brenig anyway as it's less open. If they ever want someone to go down 'for a show and tell' then let me know. I'm sure like most people they will be surprised as to how well we are kitted out and upon reviewing our day to day equipment will see we are certainly a lot more safety focused than a lot of the boat guys.

Great stuff lads, both Llyn Brenig, and as Shaun says the Alwyn Res, would be fantastic places to flyfish from a kayak. Thanks for making the approach Terry, all your efforts are beginning to snowball and pay off slowly but surely
