Hi, when do you think it's to windy to get out on a reservoir for not very experienced paddler? Was going to go Ardingly tomorrow, but failed to find someone to come along and the forecast for wind is 13mph with gusts up to 24mph... not looking great then, what do you think?

Rutland work on no paddling with constant wind 15mph and/or gusts over 25mph I think.

That's pretty close then... although Ardingly is about 15 times smaller 0.8km2 vs 12.6km2 do you think it's not a good idea to get out on it then? Might go on a canal instead...

Find some sheltered water, practice there ,you will soon get a good feel for you yak. Don,t think just sitting strait and easy paddling is the way to progress, have fun ,get wet ! try standing - you,ll be surprised ! do some re=entries , get to the front and the back of your yak, you will find your confidence comes will playing around and getting in and out of the yak and losing your natural reserve , having a play around now and then is the best thing you can do to make you confident in your yak, you can then concentrate of your fishing better, have fun!
