was interesting terry ..had a small crankbait on ive had for about 12 years ..a fladen 2 1/2inch raindow trout floater ..been smashed over the years mainly by perch ..lots of trout followed but never hit it !!! looking for some silvery baitfish ..roach/rudd patterns now just for the trout .......was also told that if we used wire with them bailiff can do you for pike fishing seemed a bit strange and stupid too me ..so with the odd pike around i put on a light wire trace !!

I think it makes sense to use wire if there is a chance of pike. If the bailiff accepts the lure as a trout lure then a wire trace changes nothing, it just shows you are being responsible.

Mark's mini Bean lure are very good and just about the right size as well but don't always show on the web site. To be honest, the best method for trout that I have found, although my experience is limited, is UL fishing with a 0.5-7gr rod, 1000 size reel and 10lb braid using Seik wasp lures which have caught for me trout, perch, chub, rudd, roach, carp (at least 30) and a few jacks. Brilliant little lure but make sure you flatten the barbs. ulspinning.co.uk/epages/06883bfc-cfa8-40dc-8852-005719b2bc44.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/06883bfc-cfa8-40dc-8852-005719b2bc44/Products/%22SIEK%20Bee%20OS2F-50%22If you want to try UL, I will take you around Scunthorpe lake where the UL kit has brought me a great deal of sport although not so much on that particular lure as I have another couple that work well there.
