I got some of these given and have to say they are good traces. Good strong clips on them too!

I make my own, much cheaper and then gear the clip size I want for the task.

What wire do you use/where do you get it? I always make my own pike lure and deadbait traces and would like to make some finer ones for perch but haven't found any wire supple enough. Things like that I like to touch and feel in a shop rather than going by what's written on the web write up.

I make all my own traces too but as these were a freebie I gave them a whirl and they aren't bad.
With regards to wire it is like braid and tends to be of a personal nature. What some like, others don't!
A lot of the guys on the LAS forum swear by knot2kinky so maybe give that a look Andy?
I like the Savage Gear soft flex clear for my light traces, but it is now discontinued and difficult to get hold of.

I use AFW Surflon Micro Ultra which can be knotted or crimped and even use it on pike flies when fly fishing. I don't say that I have tried loads of products because I have not but was put onto this product for pike fly fishing and have no reason to look anywhere else.
I also use Seaguar Ace Hard pure fluorcarbon in some cases and to be honest I have had quite a few pike on it without loosing one yet, a line with guts.

i'd be careful with some of the wolfram traces found on ebay, i bought a few packs (different brand but look exactly the same) in light b.s. and luckily tested them before using. They all kinked very easily, and if bent at right angles some fractured. (they are multi-strand construction)
put the lot in the bin and went back to using K2K single strand!

Drennan soft strand in 15lb breaking strain is quite good, although these days I tend to use knot 2 kinky in a similar B.S., whatever I use I crimp all the connections as over the time I have been making traces I've never had one fail out of hundreds produced.
