Firstly Hi all.. for a chage a mate and I went on the river (medway) last w/end and had a great time I spent the most of my time dropshotting for perch and he plugging for pike, we both have a lot to learn. I have loads of questions to ask but thought I would start with the business end, I have loads of quality bass plugs and sp's but the pike didn't want my zonk or komomo and I felt that sgse bodies were a bit big for the perch. So to save me buying blind can you guys point me in the direction of some good freshwater lures for both perch and pike please. Thanks for reading Barry

Mark Houghton's lures are the main attack in my lure box. You won't thank me for the recommendation though... (they are beautiful and you'll buy more and more )

Highly recommend Mark's Crank 'n' Shad in both 80 and 60mm. The vibration on thr rod tip when trolling these is fantastic, you will spot a leaf or bit of weed on your hooks as the change in vibration is obvious. This saves you trolling for a mile with a messed up lure. They cast well and work well with standard cast and retrieve or trolling. Don't be afraid to pause and let them float up in the water for a few seconds. This can induce a take. My personal patterns are the Esox and the different perch ones. If you buy a couple you will end up buying more. The build quality and durability of these lures is amazing. Best of all is that they are great value for money. Terry

I'm rather partial to the 110mm fat belly shads. Great size, great action and he's done them for me in varying diving depths. I was lucky enough to also get some in Jerkbaitmanias 'silver perch glider' colours. Don't dare use em... Just love looking at them

The bottom line is that you can buy shed loads of lures of all types, shapes, weights and action BUT Mark's lures catch fish time and time again. I have caught more pike on his 60mm crankbait lures than any other and are my 'go to' lure. Don't get me wrong people like Phil Heaton (esoxuk), on here will give you some other hot lure tips but as already said, you will catch on M H lures. Classic perch is very good for me. For perch, my top lure is a 4grm SpinMad tail spinner lure fished on an ultralight rod or Salmo Tiny lures which have taken both perch and pike on UL gear. This is the best place for ultralight lures that I have found, get a coffee as there are quite a few..... ulspinning.co.uk/Phil

I'm another MH fan, as Phil has said 60mm cranks for me in black bar foil 👌I have 1 or 2 of marks lures but that is my go to. 😉
