I am on the committee and run the fishing at Manvers and yes you can fish from kayaks there as well as boats and the banks. We have lure fished all summer and had some nice perch and jacks, only to be frustrated by follows from 20lb+ pike. Additionally there are carp over 30lbs, bream to over 12lbs, tench over 10lbs and perch over 3lbs along with an improving stock of silvers. The lake was actually funded by the BCU, covers 35 acres and has an extremely good club house with very clean toilet and shower facilities. The club is made up from kayakers, anglers, tri athletes, open water swimmers, runners, wind surfers and model boaters... here's the link to or website www.mwbc.org.uk/index.htmlIf enough are interested I could arrange a kayak fishing meet, we would have to be quick though as it does freeze over in very cold weather, or maybe fish it in the spring. Visitors are allowed 4 visits before being encouraged to join. The launch fee is £5 per day and full membership is £50 for adults or £75 for family which is 2adults and 2 kids. For both all the facilities are free except the cafe of course. If there's a meet organised next summer it should be possible to arrange it as an overnight session with bivvy ing up on site. There's a KFC, dominoes pizza, take away Indian, Chinese, tai takeaway and subway within 5 minutes walk... Oh and a few pubs who do food. Phil

Phil if anyone wanted to fish there how would you go about it?
Can you just turn up and pay or do you have to prebook?

Phil if anyone wanted to fish there how would you go about it? Can you just turn up and pay or do you have to prebook? Terry You can simply turn up, during normal office hours (7 days per week) someone at the club will book you in and out of the water during which time you can be alone on the lake. Out of office hours lone paddlers are discouraged but a spotter on the bank or more than one kayak gets around the problem. The people running the lake on a daily basis are sound and will mix rules with common sense. Phil
