Check out this website for some ideas on fishing and launching on the Fenland Great Ouse and its tributaries: www.bridgeboatyard.com/PDF/Ouse-map.pdfDenver sluice slipway from the dry side: From the damp side: The fishing is Kings Lynn AA. They like you to have BCU membership. About half a mile upstream is the entrance to the lovely River Wissey: Where a dippy youth does his impression of a gondolier: Approximately 20 to 30 minutes paddling upstream from here is a good slipway in the village of Hilgay. The Wissey is a slow flowing Fenland river. It used to be KLAA, but is now "free fishing" according to local tackle shops. Above Hilgay village the river is meandering, remote and straight out of "Mr Crabtree". It used to hold pike, big perch and cracking roach. Whether its as good as it was when I fished it regularly years ago I couldn't say. I shall do a separate post on the Wissey soon. The next tributary south from the Wissey outfall is the Little Ouse River, joining the Great Ouse at Brandon Creek. According to the map linked there is a public slipway at Brandon Creek. About a mile upstream from Brandon Creek, KLAA have a stretch which used to be really good pike fishing with again some hefty perch. The Little Ouse here is slightly larger than, but otherwise very similar to the Wissey. I hope to be fishing both rivers in the next few weeks and will try to put together a bit of a guide to each. Local youth with his first Wissey yak caught perch: I think I can hear banjos!

Asked friends who fish that way and they said the wissey has less pike than it used too, but still has some very good doubles, they said fish up to 30lb , are caught , not that often because not many fish it as used to the 16 and 20ft being the pikers magnet for the last few years. Good area for a meet as well. several in fact
