Managed to get some of these whilst on holiday with the intention of using for the Perch and Chub, will use 15lb wire off the top eye and fluro off the bottom eye to the lead.

Forgive me John but why would you use wire above, is it just in case a pike takes hold. I like the look of those in your photo Daz. I would have thought to wrap the line around the hook at the offshot point and still tied at the eye but I guess that just shows what I know about drop shotting. Phil

Phil Phil, you prob know as much about drop shotting as the rest of us, we just need to think how to make it safe for the fish and work for us as anglers trying something new. Daz

Phil[/quo That's it Phil, the wire is simply there to prevent bite offs, whilst not targeting Pike on the rivers you can never be sure, I would of course much prefer to use fluro all the way through but have to sacifice presentation for well being of a Pike ( small price to pay in my book) All the best John

How did you get on with these hooks? Going to the states next week and I see that Bass pro have the same sort of thing. Thought I might get myself some if they are any good. Graham

I do like the way they alway stay hook up. Terry, When I put a hook on the dropshot rod it can end up either way, to be honest it doesn't seem to affect the hook up so now I just leave it. Using the palomar knot to connect the hook you will get just the same problem with this type of hook but the 'arm' will be at the top. To be honest I don't worry about trace wire with such small hooks, lets be fair would you use a trace float fishing lob worms for perch? Phil

Spot on if I had to catch a Pike and my life depended on it a big lob popped up would be my number one choice jacks love them ,had a sesh 3 winters ago when we had around 70 perch dropshotting well ubber slow retrieve dropshotting and 3 Pike all doubles with one bit off which I can personally live with but I guess the wire /Flouro thing has to be a personal choice ......2 of the perch were belters to a 2lb8oz and a 3 to what was then a new method to us
