Well. sorted the gear for tomorrow probably stay local and it will be my first ever attempt at drop shotting/ Sorted the gear this afternoon and pulled out everything other than plastics and a few small blade spinners. I am determeined to focus. I knpw a deep stretch and it carries no traffic so hopefully I won't get disturbed. I will see how I get on........ Terry

Sorry been doing the Kaafu bit.
Terrible, my chosen section was blocked off by bridge works.
hen I moved on I could not believe the amount of leaves and weed there was pushing through. My line was clogging up with junk in a couple of minutes. I tried elsewher and I could not believe the amount of subsurface lalies there were still in the water and then loads of cabbage too. NIGHTMARE!!
One thing I do know is that for the way I was fishing I definitely want a lighter tip on the rod, the Greys I got cheap is nice but not sensitive enough for today.
Learning, Learning, Learning....so much to learn.
Pleased with the Kaafu though nice little boat.

Yeah a light tip is the way forward, I am so impressed with my Mrs rod I don't want to buy a drop shot rod. Just a 7g lead and it is so sensitive. Just a shame its pink......
Bad luck on the garbage running through, was just thinking the other day that the weed is around for a while.

For such a simple method, Drop Shot fishing is so difficult!
I am constantly learning with every trip, been fishing the drop shot since late May on Ullswater. Different depths of water and boat / kayak drift create a constant change of variables to overcome.
My advice is stick to a couple of venues you know well, mine was a lake (Ullswater) and now a canal.
In 2013, I plan to fish the Yorkshire Ouse and River Mersey with the drop shot technique. Hopefully this time next year I will be quite knowledgeable on the subject.
Cheers

It is great that the kayak fishing community are exploring this. We will all benefit from shared experiences.
