I'd like to organise a Broads meet sometime in the future. I'd like to gauge the level of interest first and possible numbers that may be able to attend so I have a better idea of which launch sites would suit us best, plus what days would be best for the majority.

Not alone Terry, I work 3 out of 4 so will be biased to getting my sorry butt out there too. Hopefully our free days coincide or at least I could make it on a night shift. That makes 7 of us with an interest at least and probably more but realistically we need at least 6 parking spaces. If anyone wants to step forward and offer launch sites, be my guest but initially I've several places that could work for us.
Martham, River Thurne. Pay to park AND launch. Might be able to wangle a group deal but no guarantees.
Woodbastwick opposite the Ferry Inn, River Bure. Easy enough to launch by dropping in, but at this time of year the current can be a swine with the surges. Free car park though.
Wroxham, Roys car park, River Bure. Again, free parking and a drop in style launch, tackle shop within 100m.
I do have another place where we may possibly launch but that depends on a landowner. Launch would be paid but it'd be well worth it. He may be restricted himself as to what he may allow to launch.
Please remember, the Broads is now being colonised by an unwanted Shrimp, the so called 'Killer Shrimp'. Follow whatever precautions necessary to avoid transfer between areas of the broads or from other parts of the country that may harbour them.
I'll let Christmas pass us by until I start work on a date, I really want to get this right for us.

Ref the shrimp...when moving between suspect venues I have a Jeyes fluid soluting that I spray on the kayak. It should be remembered they survive in any damp conditions. I am a limited risk...unfortunately my launches are in frequent and the kayak sits in my garage warm and cosey AND dry for two or three weeks at a time, thankfully.
On launch siites we have an 'expert' in Bananaman who may be able to contribute or comment.

Nice one, just thought it worth mentioning.
I hope so, I'm far less experienced than most of you on here so need as much back-up as possible as I don't want to cause grief by cocking it up.

Sorry.... not meant as a negative, really appreciate what you are doing but I know that sometimes two heads are better than one. Keepup the good work my appetite is well and truely whetted. Terry

Phew ;D
Thank goodness.
I just hope we can get a day when most can get there and that the weather gods are considerate.

There's a good launch slipway in a carpark on Wroxham Broad next to the sailing club, the parking fee is £5 per day. Its only a few hundred yards from the River Bure then a short paddle back up into Wroxham itself. Slow float trolled livebaits do well on this stretch with some nice fish present to over 20lb. Phil

I won't be able to make this one, 3.5 hours to get there for a day trip isn't viable for me.
