This is for Kell as he asked on one of the forums just how to fix a Flambeau box onto his new kayak---so here you go Kell. fasten 4 hooks to the box, 2 at each end Take two lengths of bungy chord and fold over the ends and whip them down producing a loop at each end. Next fasten 2 pad eyes near the base of the kayak recessed area where you intend to site the box. Slip the pad eyes through the bungy loops and screw to the kayak. Now with the box in position clip the bungy over the hooks at each end of the box. Providing you have made the lengths of bungy somewhere near, the box will be held securely in position. The lid is fully accessible without straps over the top and it will not fall off should the worst happen. The fittings should be available from Al at the Kayak Shack or something very similar. I hope this helps you Kell. Phil

The loop at the front of the box is my retainer for the seat back as I have a fully fitted seat on the kayak so nothing to do with the box. Regarding the screws in the pad eyes and the nuts & bolts in the box, I usually put a blob of Sikaflex or silicone behind the item being fastened just to give a better seal. I have also made some foam sponge washers which I always place on the bolt thread before the washer and nut, again just to create a total seal but I confess that is overkill.
