I brought my C-Tug second hand and did not have the original strap so cannot comment on how good it is. So I had to think about what I was going to use. I wanted a cam strap first and foremost but I did not want the single strap through both supports. It was going to have to be a strap in two pieces then but how to fasten them. Simple I thought and I guess many have done it before and I have just not seen it. I measured the length I wanted on each support and got a bradawl out. I pushed it through the weave rather than cutting the weave. I then threaded a penny washer onto a bolt and pushed the bolt through the hole. This was followed by a washer and bolt on the other side of the strap. Very simple and strong. As I use mine almost exclusively on freshwater zinc plated fasteners suffice but for saltwater stainless will be a must. Also make sure the bolt goes from the inside to out so as to avoid any chance of damaging the kayak.

I threw my strap away Terry as they are rubbish, never understood why Ocean used them. You have been much neater than me, I just cut a cam lock strap in two and tied them on the C-Tug. Very neat mate, 3 house points for effort. Phil

Trouble is John, you cannot pull the straps up tight because of the stupid design. Get a cheap cam lock strap, you wont regret it.

It definitely gives you a bit more confidence that the kayak is going to stay put

I use the original strap and it's always been really good - that said I have put a lot together and strapped a lot up. The strap and way of strapping has always seemd very effective to me but the instructions are very difficult to follow. At first, from memory, I foun it slipping but then twigged that I was doing something wrong but I can't remember what.
terry, if you want an original strap pm me your address and i'll post you one, i have a few spare c-tug bits.

From what you say Mark, I must be doing it wrong but I have never really been able to get them to tighten like a cam lock strap and on the BG it slipped all over which is why I also switched straps.

Mark, Thanks for the kind offer but it works fine as I have it, no point changing. The trolley itself is great.

No worries. It threads through the 'wrong' way if that makes sense then tightens up on itself.
