Here is a great paddle with free parking.
Firstly the parking. About 1/2 a mile out of town on the Warwick Road is a free carpark on the left as you approach from Warwick.
Seen as the grey area below.
It is totally free and only about 50 yds to the water. It has a nice grassy area by the river that is used for picnics if you have the family with you.
On the far bank for a mile or so upstream is a string of million pound plus houses to lust over.
At the launch site is a big basin that some barges use for turning or mooring which makes a good play area in the yak for young ones.
A beautiful river.
So clear
There is a lovel haul out at the top of the stretch for a reast and lunch fun paddling up and down a rush lined narrow just before it as the current speeds up
There is a left hand backwater. Take care up there it is shallow and fast flowing with lots of overhanging trees. Be prepared to turn round if you see one of the barbel boys, it is so shallow you WILL spook their swim so be fair.
I have taken a rod and had a little fun
Steph loves paddling here but takes keeping dry a bit too far!!
Then paddle back downstream passed the launch and into Stratford passed the theatre but watchout for the idiots in row boats!!!
Just a word of warning there are one or two anglers in the area, they are usually fishing to the far bank. Call to them and ask where they want you to pass and they have always been very friendly.
If the carpark is full there is another car park ideal for launching in town. Follow the main through route and you go left and on a long right hand bend with a big hotel on the left. Just after the hotel and befor a T junction is a sign on the left for Marina and car park. The car park is £4 for 12 hours ( cheapest in town) and is right next to the river. In the top corner is a gravel slip for the rowing club.
