Hi all, I was pointed to the forum by Izettafox (thanks!) so thought I'd give it a look and introduce myself! My name's Andy, I'm 41, and I'm based in March, Cambs. I recently bought a TekSport 330 Angler which I'm using to explore the rivers, particularly the Ouse at the moment, travelling with my overnight kit and fishing from inaccessible areas from the bank. Had a lot of fun so far, culminating in a 43lb catfish from the river. I also do a lot of piking and consider myself as an all-rounder. I've also like to give the coast a go although I'm not yet brave enough to try it and need to invest in some more equipment first. Hoping to meet a few like-minded people so give me a shout if you're nearby

Welcome mate, the info I've gained on here has been immense, good bunch of lads, I'm only in Norfolk, and a cat from the Ouse tempts me for a bit of traveling! :0) I fish the Bure a lot, all the best, tight lines.

A warm welcolme aboard Andy. When you want to try your hand at the salt water, come up to my neck of the woods as the tides are quite kind, even Daz wouldn't get sea sick.

You found us then Andy. Glad you made it. Firstly is the local club 'kayak friendly'? If so then the area you caught the cat might make a great place for a meet. Your cat is one of the most impressive coarse kayak fish if not THE most impressive. Very well done. If I was you if you have pictures I would be getting them in every publication you can. I would also contact Teksport I am sure they would be interested in a photo for their website. If you are thinking of the Norfolk/Suffolk coast for sea fishing then Snapper and his gang are the guys to chat to. Snapper makes a great companion and his both of the locale and of kayak angling is second to none. Check out his site. www.angliankayakangling.proboards.com/index.cgiHope to see you soon. Terry

Sadly the self takes came out terribly! It might be the only cat in the but it was caught by design. Hopefully I'll get another one and some better pics! I believe it may be a river record.
There are quite a few free spots on the river so if anyone wants any info, let me know! I've echoed a good stretch now and I'm just doing one night a week. Fishing from the bank with a one man tent and minimum kit. Is anyone using their yak like this?
I wouldn't mind a mackerel trip sometime soon if anyone is up for it? Got drysuit on the way so will be semi-prepped for the sea!

Here's a mat shot of the cat, the self takes I won't post, they are just embarrassingly bad! Caught on two bloody great halibut pellets from a spot which is accessible only by boat. I've long suspected that there are more cats in the rivers than we think so it's very satisfying to get one by design on only my second night of trying! Mind you I've put a LOT of prepwork in, finding spots, baiting up etc. The main problem is avoiding the bream and carp! Attachments:

That's an ugly brute Andy. It's looks in good condition. It's great when a plan comes together.

I think he was on the bank Phil. Andy uses his kayak to access inaccessible areas that can only be reach by water. He then sets his stall out on the bank.

Ah I see, I thought it was a tall order because I would not want that bugger while on the kayak.

It was from the bank. Not sure I'd fancy hauling it onto the kayak!
