1sr thing mate .... Where are you someone may be local who can take you out with them. Mind you not wanting to sound cheeky a 40lb carp is a lot more common than a 40lb pike.

here in Sussex we have skf web site Sussex kayak fishing ,there's about 3 that go paddling and there more into see fishing when they can get time of work.yes i prob could go pike fishing with someone from the banks but i think it will be a lot different from a kayak ie unhooking them from the boat, gilling them out.i have been shown how to unhook pike from the bank ie turn them on there backs ect.. also i do love river paddling and the uk does have some lovely rivers that i would like to see and paddle fish. the Trent Avon Thames broads etc etc.

Tho it may be in jest may i suggest that joking about knocking a 20lb pike on the head may not be the most sensible thing to say it is a very emotive subject to some As for the handling of pike they are not as hardy as carp and do not take well to rough handling at all it may be good practice to carry an unhooking mat if you are targetting the big girls or just unhook over the side and release ;D its probably a good idea to get some practice from the bank unhooking first its far easier to learn to do that than trying to learn whilst afloat as you would only have to concentrate on the one thing at a time and sometimes they can be a bit of a handful ;D

i treat all fish with respect i cant even kill and eat what i catch in the sea.i would never intend to injure any fish that's why i am asking on here for help for handling pike while on the yak.and as for care of pike am i right in saying we shouldn't even be fishing for them till late October?

Traditionally you are right the season always began 1st Oct. Having said that, the thrill of a Summer pike on a surface lure is something you will remember forever. Terry

Frosty, Please dont take what i said the wrong way it was not meant to offend or insinuate that you do not treat fish with the upmost respect,If you are ever up around the cambridgeshire fens i`d happily take you out for a session be it from the bank or the yaks tho alas i`d not be able to guarantee a 20 there are certain places we could certainly catch several smaller ones.

Stu,
That might be an idea for a few of us to put faces to names. A nice quiet drain could give plenty of room for a mini meet.

Start a new thread and we can each post available weekends. I will post mine from work tomorrow. Perhps suggest a venue and what we could expect to catch.
I am sure we could get a few interested, hey even if it's just three it would be a laff.
