The river at Ely is open waterand you only need a rod licence. It goes from the west-( upstream ) from the railway bridge -to the east , the second railway bridge Aprox 3/4 mile, . After this it is owned by the Coopers AC, I talked to the bailiff , and he said a kayaks no problem ,just be sensible. You can get a day ticket for £4, but better to join for a year for £10, good for relationship to us to. They have matches on a sunday so don,t try then ! This water will take you up to some very large buildings downstream, these are E.A. buildings and the waters off limits, Large signs on the bank, DON,T fish there. The river here is very good for perch, 3-4 lb ,pike at least 20lb and zander to 14lb, marinas in ely , but not too many boats except in summer. Will post some pics when I can. Tight lines, Chris

HI mate if down broad street and follow it round to the right, then go straight on here towards the river ( only100 yds), in front of you is the slipway, if you follow signs to river you realy can,t miss it. I unload , then going back the way I came imediatly take a small (very ) turn on the right ,just follow this round to the secnd railway bridge and on the left there is a large area of free parking max 23 hours .Its less than 100 yds across the grass and along a little riverside walkway which is a monument to the airborn troops, back to you yak .Toilets are 50 mts or so away , with your back to the slip left at 45 degrees, easy launch, safe area, I,ve had to leave tackle etc to take my lad to the toilet or car and nothings ever been touched , generally a very friendly town. Tesco, waitrose and sainsburies within 1/4 mile if you need some bait !
