This is a launch point I have used a couple of times for short trips out. I am unaware of a controlling club as it used to be run by the now closed Lea anglers consortium. I have not seen a bailiff on my recent trips but they used to charge £3 to fish. The water belongs to the Canal and rivers trust this means you are not allowed to troll or anchor but must be tied to the bank. I have not fished this area seriously for nearly 20yrs so I cannot vouch for the quality of the fishing but it used to hold some good silvers, bream and Pike. It does have lots of signal crays which must be removed and not allowed to return to the water. The launch point is at Ware on the corner or Harris lane and Priory street. The Mondeo is parked on the slip access. You can pull up right next to the slip and unload your kit then park across the road. Beware of the parking restrictions - Mon to Fri 8am - 6pm. This is a weekend only area. Do not use the social club car park. Slipway. Once launched you can only head upstream as there is a lock and weir, this will give you a few miles of river leading to Hertford. Good luck and happy hunting, I would be interested to know if you you have a good trip out. Onerun

Gary, do the tickets have to be purchased in advance or on the bank so to speak

Went to fish there the other day and could not get the Yak in, it was full of trailers Looks like a common problem if the photo's are anything to go by. There was access some years ago to the Chesterfield Canal near Gainsborough with a really nice quiet little slipway but people were always leaving trailers blocking the slip. On one occasion I had to move 4 trailers in order to launch my boat. The next time I went, the slipway had been locked with a steel bar. I have never understood why people leave trailers around making it difficult for others to use and I bet the ones who shouted the loudest were the ones who blocked the slip in the first place. Phil

Phil At Ely a chap has started hiring out padalo's and uses , and blocks the slip, ! , I had a paddle there and he was helpful to carry stuff past his gear but I still thought it a bit much .

I've only seen the trailers once at this slip, during the week. I have never had an issue on a sat or sun. Axor shame you could not get on ... Look at the area before the wooden crossing - small silver spinners. ;-)
