Hello, I will be a newbie to the kayak fishing world when my moken 12.5 arrives in three weeks. I'm not new to fishing though - targeting pike on my local river Ribble, the lake district and regular trips to River Bure in Norfolk. I've been toying with the idea of getting a kayak for a number of years and have been stalking the forums for a while now. Looking forward to some advice and banter and maybe some fishing sessions with an expereinced kayak angler.

A very warm welcome to the site Mick. I am certain you will find both helpful and knowledgeable people on here so do not be afraid to ask questions. The Moken 12.5 is a very comfortable and stable kayak, enjoy.

Welcome Mick to a small but growing community.
We are all still learning about the freshwater side of our sport. We are lagging a long way behind our friends on salt water. They have been at it for many years and in large numbers so tackle and tactics have evolved.
As a comparatively new sport on fresh water we welcome everyone to join and share their knowledge, collectively we can help each other develop.
With The Broads in mind we have several guys in that region who can give you excellent advice notably Snapper. He is one of the leading lights in the sport both on fresh and salt water and has helped the entire kayak angling community to grow. Indeed he has organised a big meet near Lowestoft later in the year which will be a great chance to meet guys who have kayak fished for years.
Yorkshire? We also have several members in that area who I am sure will be along to chat soon.
As Phil says ask away if you need advice. The big thing here is that even if you think it may be a stupid question there will probably be others thinking the same but dare not ask. We are a good bunch here and want to help you enjoy the sport which already has us 'hooked'

Thanks for the warm welcome terry - I know the bure well and have fished it for over 30 years from both bank and boat - cant wait to try it from a kayak though. I'm at the Preston end of the ribble any lancastrians you know of!
