Hi been a member for a while now but still not done any freshwater kayak fishing as I usually fish with the east coast lads at Flamborough due to the travelling and not getting out as much as I would like decided to give rudyard a go as it's only a 40min drive away so if anybody's about company is always welcome. Will do a report when I've been but I don't think it will be upto Simons standard Cheers Steve

Hi Steve, I thought you lived over near the East Coast but if Rudyard is only 40mins away, I guess not. A few of us regularly fish a lake in Scunthorpe so if you ever want to join us, let me know.

No Phil live in the middle of Derbyshire about 5 miles from Matlock so it's a fair drive when I go and see Al and the lads. Thanks for the offer would love to come and have a fish when you go again. Thanks Steve

Steve, If you go to Rudyard head straight for the far end of the lake. Right the way up! The fish were along the left hand bank in the dead rushes next to the over hanging trees. Use a floating lure and get as close into the trees as possible, weedless lures would help. Also at the very top bank of the lake the fish are tight in to the trees, you will see an old branch sticking out of the water about 30 yards from the end. Keep this on your left and look straight ahead. There is a small area of dead rushes, then a small area of clear water about 20ft by 6ft and then a small weed bed going into the trees. The pike were right in there in 18" of water, if you can find the spot I mean give it a go. Dorado worked his way along the last 200 yards of the left hand bank and had loads of follows and hook ups. Don't worry about snagging on the rushes most are dead and you can pull through them. Good Luck mate. Terry

the whole of that bottom bay is worth ago as i had fish striking a 18ch jerk bait in 8ft of water, that area is where they have been spawning so there is lots of males down there, good luck and have fun Daz

Take an anchor with you, if the wind is blowing into the shallows you can work you way in gently by letting rope out. Also have a drogue as it is good to try a slow drift too.

Big Tuna arrives on Wednesday and as soon as the Torqeedo is on, I want a session there.

With the Tuna and the Torqueedo you can carry Daz's lures.
