Hi all, thought I would introduce myself to you all as I'm new to this forum and indeed any forum! I am an angler of thirty odd years and actually make my living out of the sport as a fisheries management consultant, coach and freelance angling journalist. Over the years I have dipped in and out of Kayak fishing and actually had my last kayak stolen from my fishery lock up last year. Now thanks to a recent purchase of a OC Prowler ultra I'm back in the game and this time its permanent! I will be mostly fishing inland coarse fishing waters but will also fish the Norfolk cost from time to time with a mate, I used to live in Norfolk and fished all of the North Norfolk coast off my old OK Drifter. My intentions are to catch big Carp and Cats from the kayak, as well as working my local canal network, mainly drop shotting, small lures, I am also going to be writing about it in the various magazines I write for. Anyway I have really enjoyed reading through all the information on the site and look forward to maybe meeting a few of you guys on a meet somewhere one of these days.

Welcome mate. We are a small but growing bunch here. The great thing is we are kindred spirits and don't feel the need to impress. A day catching small fish is as heritable as catching specimens. We are having a get together on 16 June probably at Denver Sluice. If you fancy coming over you would be most welcome. Where will you be looking for the cats. Not that many in Norfolk I guess. Would you be looking at the Ouse? Terry

Welcome to the forum Jackster,
Kayak fishing for cats ?. I've followed a few rumours in the past but with such low stock on the rivers, it's camping with bait. This would be the ultimate on a kayak though.
Drop us a post if you have an article on kayaking printed in one of the mags.

Hi chaps, thanks for the welcome! Because of what I do for a living I am around fisheries every day of my working week and always try to blag my way on to some of them, especially if I promise to knock some cash off the bill! One venue I have been given access to is in the midlands, a fishery containing Cats to 50lb, I am also working on the owner to allow small groups on. My intention is to fish until the early hours on float fished deadbaits, I have had cats in the passed this way and believe the yak puts me right on them. I'm very much looking forward to getting properly into this type of fishing and being a relative novice at fishing from a kayak just gives me a fresh challenge after going a bit stale from the banks. Id love to make the meet on the 16th but I'm actually Barbel fishing on the Derwent, I will however see what I can do to get out of it!

A warm welcome to the site, where do you live so guys in the area will be able to contact you for a get together. Always handy to put your area in your profile which then tells anyone if you are close by.
I hope you enjoy the forum, nice and friendly.
Phil

Jack, welcome to the site, you wont be billy no mates for long! great group of like minded kayak coarse anglers. Could you be the first in the UK to put a cat on the kayak? that would be one in the eye for the conger lads :-) you might need to tie the kayak to the bank thou,it would be one hell of a ride
