Hello. My name's Alex and I'm from Ipswich. (sounds like a dodgy game show intro...) Been kayak fishing for about 2 years now and a member of Anglian Kayak Angling for that time, where I've met a few of you already. Also signed up to the main AA site but rarely post there. Found kayak fishing a welcome relief after 25 years carp angling and have, this year, rediscovered the delights of freshwater fishing. This has something to do with the friendly kayak species hunt comp on AKA which is getting me out there, discovering stuff again. I also love the fact that the rivers around my area are devoid of anglers (unlike the rammed lakes) and yet so full of fish it seems. So, I do hope to explore new venues, catch new species and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hope to meet up with more of you in the future. Cheers Alex

Welcome aboard Alex, I hope you enjoy the forum. I assume you know Snapper/ Mark quite well and he will pop into the forum from time to time. I envy where you live, My wife and I love Suffolk, spending as much time as we can near Southwold. Roll on September when we will be there again.
Good to have you here Alex.
Phil

Phil Never heard of him... But he sounds just like a bald headed bass catching guy I know from Lowestoft... But seriously, I like Mark a lot (don't tell him I said so though as he already thinks I'm iffy from the tea I drink) and it's partly through his, and others, help and advice on AKA that I'm so engaged in kayak angling. Envious of Suffolk? I guess its one of those things where everywhere else seems nicer. I love Norfolk (said through gritted teeth) as the amount of waterways on The Broads is a kayak anglers heaven. Plus the North Norfolk Coast and its clear waters are a far cry from the soup I have at Felixstowe. You're right, Southwold is lovely. My father was born across the river in Walberswick so I know the area a little. Terry... its interesting what you say about Suffolk being a great area to fish. Not so many places to coarse fish from a kayak though. The Gipping is my closest river and a thing of beauty but most of it is controlled by GAPS and GVAC but I'm exploring stuff at the moment... Like this bit... Sad thing is, you never see any one else fishing it. When I were a lad, river fishing was huge... now it's mostly all commercial lakes. The rivers are empty. Empty of anglers, not of fish. Might have to do some PR work, like you Terry, that I've been reading about on AA. See if us kayakers can get more access. thanks again for your warm welcomes fellas and I hope to meet you soon. A

It's the same on lots of rivers, they all want to fish the carp puddles. One of Mark's biggest faults is ....HE SNORES!!!! He was in the tent next to me at the Oxwich meet. As we walked from the barbecue back to the tents he had the cheek to tell me not to snore. 10 minutes later I was still awake and there was this trumpeting noise coming from next door ! !. A very helpful bloke though. Terry
