You may all remember that last year we got restricted access to Frisby Lakes. Well since then there have been two changes of fishery manager and the whole deal had to be reassessed.
The new manager, Trevor, is a nice guy and a mad keen carp angler. As the fishery makes it's money from the carp anglers he is naturally reluctant to do anything that may stunt that revenue stream.
Trev has had a number of random people just turn up and ask to kayak fish and he has refused and told them it is not allowed.
I went over yesterday afternoon and had a long chat with Trev. He knew of me from his bailiffs that had met me in the past whilst launching and fortunately they had given good reports on behaviour by anglers referred to the water by this site. That was a good start.
It helped that I have left an old P13 there for them to use and the staff have been helping anglers to free snagged fish etc.
Slowly he came around to the idea of an extra revenue source particularly during the Winter predator season when the bivvy boys tend to hibernate.
So a new agreement was reached very similar to last years one.
Under the new team they have created a new website and Facebook page.

Access in the Summer will be restricted whilst the carp anglers dominate the water. Weekends will be virtually impossible. Anyone wanting to fish MUST telephone Trev on the number above before setting out. He will try and accommodate us wherever possible. It may well be that he will let you fish certain parts of the lake where there are no carp men on the day. There is a lot of water there.
Winter time will be much easier. ) Trev is also open to having a species hunt or predator event on the water in the future. They have changing rooms, showers and can do breakfasts etc. There is also a tackle store on site mainly based around carp but he is increasing predator gear. They have a freezer with dead baits and they are the only ones that can be used there.
Over and above phoning up there are a couple few rules....
All anglers MUST have 3rd Party Liability insurance either via BCU or Angling Trust.
All anglers MUST have a PFD and wear it at all times.
All anglers must have a suitable landing net and unhooking mat.
All anglers MUST report to the club house before launching and abide by any conditions set by the Fishery Manager or his staff.
RESPECT OTHER ANGLERS ALREADY ON TH BANKS!
I don't see any of these as being a problem for a responsible kayak angler.
If you have kept an eye on recent reports you will have seen that some quality zander have been coming out of Frisby. The water also contains quality pike, carp, perch, bream etc.
Please tread carefully lads this is a good water but could be lost so easily .
