Hello Terry - hope your well, and very Weldone for getting access. Plenty of fun with the Zander, plenty of schoolies around the aerator but we've found they love to hang around the ropes on the buoys as well - find the bait fish and its hectic - not unusual to have 60 or 70 plus fish on the boat in a day - I also think the Pike are waxing fat off the Zander as well - I believe there were a few thirties taken last winter and they have been ignored by anglers for some time due to popularity of the Zander and Perch fishing. Will try to make a trip down at somepoint. All the best John

I am off on the on 1st September so it could be a goer for me. Going away for a week but will try to log in when I can to find out the details. Not got all the jigs and lures for deep water Zeds but can soon sort that out when I get back. Well done by the way Terry!

I had a great afternoon over at Rutland Water chatting with the head ranger Andy. Really nice guy, I grew with his dad and uncles so it has helped to forge a good relationship.
We have been ironing out a few concerns he had and getting some little extras added to our guidelines. Bio-security is a major factor now that Pitsford is contaminated with an invasive shrimp along with Grafham.
I am considering creating a separate forum to keep everything based around Rutland in one place. I may even go for a syndicate type group so that I can use it as a tool for negotiations on other waters. My thinking is that as a formal group we could ask for a small subscription with would be used to get group insurance which could cover individuals and events.
Most of you will be aware that when you have an organised 'meet' strictly speaking you should have insurance. That's why NWKF stopped their meets.
How would you guys view this?
I am looking to get a full presentation put up of everything that is expected from kayak anglers. There is nothing excessive and nothing that any responsible kayak angler would be upset by.

If it means we can get access to more places I'm all for it. It's all ammo I can use to try and get access to a couple of reservoirs my way. Sent some emails but haven't had a single reply. Need to go there in person I think. Really looking forward to the 1st. I think you're owed a few drinks Terry!

Thats what I was thinking Andy.
If we had our own insurance in place already then it's another tick in the box.

It may be worth asking Al who he used for the Flamborough meet insurance Terry but I do recall it was not cheap. This years meet is August Bank Holiday so the prices will be up to date.

It's personal 3rd party insurance for these meets as opposed to events.
I have spoken with Ed at SWKA about events.
Cheers Phil.

It may well end up actually being a club. Anglian want us to be linked with the watersports centre as things stand and that would mean they prefer to deal with a club. Daz and I are looking at the logistics. We may need volunteers to assist.
