Right lads I have a few bits to formalise but it looks as if we may be able to become part of a kayak angling club. As things stand the basics are a membership fee of around £28. Please don't flinch. For this we would have individual insurance of £1,000,000, not just in the UK but the whole of Europe. We would have access to discounted training courses. We would be able to forge a relationship with an established retailer for discounts. We would also be able to have event insurance if we put on a formal comp. We would be insured for mini-meets which most forums are not. We would be a registered club and if we created a major event we could have it formally ratified as 'The UK Championship' . As a club we would be in a much better position to negotiate with other waters for access because of all the above benefits. How does that sound? Terry

It's starting to look good for freshwater fishing.

Sounds interesting. Pros and cons I guess. Would there have to be a committee and all that bollocks? Still need to have BCU to legally paddle where I want to and that includes insurance. Trading courses... maybe. Retail discount... maybe. Comp/event insurance... good for those organising but BCU insurance should cover me individually. Access to AW fisheries would be good. Would love a pass for Alton Water (but that probably won't happen in my lifetime).
I think it's a fair idea Terry and would only add a list of further perks, the more support its given.
Providing I get a t-shirt and a shiny badge... I'm in!

Anything you do for this forum and fresh water kayak fishing Terry will only benefit those around you mate. Although I no longer have a kayak, I may not join but will always be there to help at any event as you well know and of course I will have the rescue boat to satisfy those venue owners/managers that need satisfying.
