According to the last link I posted Rydal does not allow Kayak access but Grasmere does.
Bank access to the latter is poor with long walks involved if the roadside swims have been taken.
Maybe that's part of the dispute that WDAA have?
I am planning to get the Yak on Grasmere within the next six weeks, so I will report back any news that affect Kayak angling.
Thanks for sharing.

So does that mean that I can just turn up on Windermere, Coniston, and Ullswater with a rod licence, put my kayak in and paddle out and fish? Bit of a trek from Essex, but I could do a weekend. Can't seem to find any clear rules about kayak fishing and where to go on freshwater! I'm a bit confined to sea angling at the moment.

Neil
I think Coniston is the only place you can turn up and fish as it's totally free. Your only cost would be the car parking or the lakeside campsite (Coniston Hall) charges.
The link I posted 5 posts up shows where you need permits or Kayaking is not permitted etc.

Bear in mind there is the Esthwaite Grand Slam coming up. That is well worth a visit if you want to go to The Lakes.
