Northern Pike Convention, this Sunday (28th February) at 7 Lakes Country Park near Crowle North Lincolnshire. As well as promising to be a good day out ALL the proceeds are to be donated to Iwan Clarks fundraising campaign to get treatment in Seattle for leukaemia that he has so bravely fought for the past 6 years. He and his family are over there at the moment carrying out the first stage of his pioneering treatment, which will mean he has to return in around a months time for the main course in around a months time. They needed to raise £200,000 for the treatment and although they have as yet not raised that much an American donated $1,000,000 from which he has benefitted, further details are here www.32auctions.com/organizations/22040/auctions/26175?reset_filter=1Phil

What a great day out this was.
Met up with old friends....Phil R. Phil D and Phil E. Met lots of new friends who showed a lot of interest in kayak fishing but the main plus was that they 'got it!'
The pike lads are beginning to understand why we do it our way.
These events are important to me as we face a lot of challenges gaining acceptance by other anglers. Getting the chance to talk face to face, show our safety and fish welfare standards all helps with the perception of kayak angling. We need as many friends as possible in our corner.
Keep your eye open for PAC events, they are informative and great places to meet kindred spirits from the predator community.

Hi Terry, It was a good day yesterday and the kayaking went down well, you are right there is a growing interest in kayaking with a few giving up boats for one. www.lureanglers.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=4716This event may be of interest to some, not the PAC or kayaking but a very good day out with quality speakers and one of the best arrays of lure fishing gear available in the Uk. The second hand stall is always a firm favourite with some great bargains to be had from the many tackle tarts that upgrade their gear with alarming regularity. Phil

Although I did not get there until after 2pm due to our work party at my syndicate lake, it was great to meet up with FRIENDS who I do not see every week but they are still good FRIENDS.
I thought the Hobie was bloody superb and really enjoyed my little paddle or I should say pedal on the lake at the venue. I have to say that this was the first time I have seen one of the Pro Angler kayaks in the flesh and I was very impressed indeed. A craft I would love to have some serious water time with but in the short time I was afloat, I was blown away with the layout, stability, attention to detail and sheer ease of use. The rudder kept catching me out because it is the opposite direction to my outboard engines. I can see why these are such big sellers in the US for stand up fishing, even I could stand up and feel totally stable. I want one..........
I was really pleased to meet up with Terry and Phil Heaton again as well as Simon Everett so although the day was clearly well organised and I missed the talks being given, it gave me chance to talk to the guys.
Well done Phil for your involvement on the organizing of the event and to Terry for the demo's and Simon flying the flag for HOW. A very good day and hopefully I will have more time on the next event.
