As the new season approaches on rivers I've been getting ready by getting hold of some lure retrievers. My best lure retriever is my kayak, but there are cases where even this doesn't work. The River Thames is actually a collection of branches and sticks with a shallow covering or water, which makes lure fishing frustrating. So, to balance the odds I now have a UBIKLE Tyranno Teeth retriever from S.Korea and a Demon retriever from Poland. I just need one now that can climb up a line when it goes up a tree and I'm sorted. I'll let you know how I get on. Any others worth trying?

Retrievers are not something I have ever used to be honest. As you say the kayak is one of the best tools for this. Generally being able to get a different angle works but there are some that won't un-snag no matter what I try. Terry

I find lures 2 to 1 , I don,t loose many but find a lot during the year, often too knackered to reuse/repair but at least I've made them safe for wildlife or kids.

That's a good ratio Greygoose. I find plenty hanging from trees too. I usually take a plastic bag with me and collect a bundle of line and lures/floats per trip. I just cant believe the size of the gear most use, and how crap most of it is. I guess those who use the good stuff don't leave it behind if they can help it.

That's a good point. On several fisheries I have had access to I havecollected all the lost lures, line etc and taken it to the club house and asked the fishery manager to dispose of it. It never hurts to show the benefits of kayak anglers. Terry

the local rivers have bouys that make the banks for flooding reasons ,I keep an eye out for lost ones and have found at least a dozen so far! I collect them and take them to the lockkeepers ,its all good for us.
