Some of you will be aware that I have visited Weir Wood recently and discussed access. Well this week Daz and I went down with our kayaks to do a demo and further the discussions.
Happily Brendan, the Fishery Manager, was very happy with what he saw and has agreed access to the fishery for kayak anglers.
The day ticket charge will be £20 for 24 hours.
There is NO LAUNCH FEE! There is a good concrete slip way.
Camping is available by prior arrangement but remember this is a fishery that offers camping, not a campsite that offers fishing! So the facilities are basic, a sink and toilet.
Daz and I would recommend an overnighter as you camp by the water and at 8 o'clock at night we were catching bream within 20 ft of the tents, drinking a beer and eating bangers.
This is a prolific mixed fishery with perch in excess of 5lbs, backed up by many other big fish. Loads of pike, roach and bream too. So you can mix your fishing up a bit if you wish.
The fishery is behind a key coded electronic gate which offers security but there is a Tesco and pubs within a 10 minute drive.
Folks this really is a great fishery and is regularly used by professional fishing guide Rikki Cooper with his clients. It has to be good for him to take paying clients there.

ACCESS IS SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS:
1. May-Sept incl. access is Monday to Friday only due to the carp syndicate on the lake being there in numbers at weekends. From Oct -April weekend access MAY be available dependant on any events. A phone call to Brendan will clarify this.
2. As this is a carp syndicate water we must go out of our way to be courteous and considerate to the carp lads. Always check with Brendan to see which bivvies are in use as many are left pitched with rods but not in use.
Keep an eye out for maker floats and paddle well clear of them.
3. All anglers must have 3rd Party Insurance via BCU or Angling Trust or an independent source. You may be required to produce proof.
4. This is not a 'turn up and fish" venue. You MUST telephone Brendan at least a day prior to your visit.
5. Everyone must comply with the general Code Of Conduct used in my access negotiations:
• Local licenses are to be displayed and to be made available for inspection on request.
• Never encroach on, and minimise the disturbance to, swims being fished by others.
• Avoid waters being used for an angling match – check with those who own the fishing rights.
• Only land and launch from recognised launch sites or areas where access will not cause damage to the environment
• Always carry your current Environment Agency rod licence, fish club waters with the relevant permits and permissions and adhere to local club rules.
• Respect and do not enter Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and designated conservation areas.
• Anchor considerately, respect all other user rights to access and local anchoring legislation.
• Land and care for your catch appropriately.
