Right folks this is where I need your help. As you all know one of my aims is to try and gain kayak anglers access to new waters but always on the basis of " Responsible access to appropriate waters". Up until now i have not had any strategic plan for waters to target nationally so I am asking for suggestions of waters you would like targeted in ongoing efforts for access. These could be specific club sections or just areas of specific rivers etc. I want to try and break the waters in three groups: 1. Rivers, either as a whole of a section. Please bear in mind as things stand I will only attack navigable sections at present. 2. Water Authority Reservoirs. 3. Other large lakes or expanses of water. I am trying to focus efforts on waters that would attract the most interest from kayak anglers and thus stand as examples to other fisheries and future negotiations. You can either post here or message me but please keep in mind " Responsible access to appropriate waters". No point suggesting narrow/shallow chalk streams or similar. Cheers. Terry

I know you will have seen the FB reply Al but I have copied it here for those that haven't. Sadly David Eyebrooke has an SSSI and as such they have a limit on how many craft can be on the water. From talks I have had for access to even be considered they would have to take one of their boats off the water for each kayak. As such they would potentially lose the cost of hire of that boat along with two day tickets. Thus the price we would have to pake would have to be full recompense of their lost boat. Not viable even if they agreed I am afraid

Boo. Didn't know they had day tickets on boats at Alton? Thought it was only bank angling. Oh well, thanks for trying Terry.

One that I've tried a few times and had no response regarding access is Bewl Reservoir. (That's the one I was getting muddled up with in our pm's) At the moment I believe it's only game fishing but to appeal to more anglers they started doing "any method" tickets. Still pay per fish but you can use worms, maggots, lures etc. It'd be good if they did a coarse day ticket as there are some decent pike and perch.

Andy, Rikki Cooper who got me onto Weir Wood guides on Bewl from his own boat for pike and perch on the lure so it may be worth a talk. Terry

Terry I've called Bewl Water once to see what the crack is and they do let you take your own kayak on the water, but not for fishing that might be half the battle, but I think they're a bit stressed about the health and safety aspect of it. I was told you can only kayak in a dedignated area and you have to have BCU 2 star award to be allowed on the water.

Terry Very keen to see if anything comes of your initial approach to Llyn Brenig recently. Would be great to flyak there and adjacent Alwen reservoir too. Keep up the great work Terry, I know many people really appreciate your efforts
