hi everyone, i live in Essex and do a lot of fishing from the Kayak, boat and beach,I used to do a lot of fresh water fishing while out in Germany in the forces, then came back to England and started sea fishing, all the fresh water gear went and sea was the game. Now I'm fed up of planing trip on the Kayak only to have to cancel because of the weather,I've been thinking about getting back into fresh water again for a while,I've looked on the internet for venues and rules and there is a lot to take in,hope the site and a few tip will get me back into fresh water fishing again, all help very welcome.

Hi mate and welcome to the forum.
Firstly you are right the whole freshwater scene is complicated but venues are coming bit by bit.
I know you are north of the Thames but with a quick trip round the M25 there is Weir Wood Reservoir which has some of the best perch fishing you can get on a day ticket.
You also have The Broads not too far away.
There are threads here giving advice on the frsh scene mate but if you have any questions then ask away.
Terry

Worth checking if your local clubs have suitable waters to kayak fish ,if so see if its ok, some water( drains up here) are hard to bank fish but with a bit of a paddle you can find virgin waters,a lot of drains and river banks are going unfished now because most want to fish in commercials. A lot of towns with rivers through them are also worth checking as often free fishing .Visiting club chairmen or club secretaries ,(meet in a pub and by the drinks !) can get permission to waters and also leads to waters no longer owned by clubs or one I found taken back by owner to redevelop the land, -had some free fishing for 18 months there! cast your net out, you will find if you look local to you,and if its somewhere others can also go post it on here. All the best ,Chris
