Anyone used Windows 8 yet?
I must confess I object to the usual rip off for operating systems and usually get mine from Long John Silver. But I have a quick look at 8 it looked ok. A mate brought it as a download and he sang it;s praises. Now I have had 7 installed for a while and was thinking I was getting close to a system clean up. Then I saw 8 Pro was only £30 downloaded which I reckon is reasonable for once. So I bit the bullet and downloaded it for cash!!!
I have a very full hard drive with a lot of programs etc so as per the MS web site I was expecting a 2 hour install......90 mins later it was done but it was bed time.
Tonight I have had a play and even thought it is aimed at touch screen devices....I quite like it and it is definitely faster. It makes the laptop feel like a big smart phone but can easily look like 7 if you want to.
I quite like it. ;D But I can see it will be a bit too much for some.
Terry

Got my wife a new laptop on monday, am really pissed off as it has 8 which means it has no version of office installed which means I have to pay an extra eighty quid or more for it. 7 had starter versions which are perfectly good enough for both our requirements...I also don't much care for 8 at the moment, perhaps because it's so very different and i've not got accustomed to it yet. I also reckon that it's so dull I've decided to excite myself with a spot of pike fishing today ;D

I'd love one Terry but not sure how the new systems work with copies, validation, cracks etc (if it's a copy). I had an old cracked copy somewhere (it's on my 2000 and XP machines) but no idea where that's gone. I remember MS once saying they didn't care about people pirating office because it meant it would become 'the only one' but I guess they've got to the point where they want the money. Understandable, it's a business and they've invested heavily to make things 'better' for years.
