Hiya Steve, I know there are one or two Southerners signed up hopefully someone will be along soon. We are only recently started as a site and people are popping up from all over. I perhaps started it at the wrong end of the Summer Things are beginning to move though as more people join. So hopefully by the start of next season we should have a good spread of members. Fishing from the kayak is great as it offers access to all areas and not just the pegs within walking distance of tha carpark as favoured by many 'commercial ' anglers. Welcome mate. Terry

Keith and evryone hi thanks for the welcome ........ Boat fished the section from Abingdon down to Hambledon for 25 years but as i say recent convert to yak fishing as i am hoping its better at grab and go fishing ie no loading the car with the Porta boat bits or in the past faffing around with as trailor . I have met a couple of others who yak fish those areas will push em in the direction of this forum . Mainly Pike and Perch luires/fly and lives with Chub Bread or Chesse paste being my main targets /tactics. Hoping to learn a few tricks of the trade and swap a few storys on here ....just wishing the poxy river would drop off Red board /Yellow bopard/Red board for long enough to make it worth while to get out Steve.

High water levels?
The Trent where I fish a lot has been like a yoyo all year. Nightmare!!
As you say Steve the kayak offer flexibility that a boat cannot, ease of carrying and launching for example. Stealth is also a benefit.
You may notice that there is an accent on predator fishing as kayaks are perfect for that. A group of us seem to be leaning towards trying drop shotting, vertical jigging and all the plastic lure styles which seem perfectly suited to the kayak.
Having said all that I have happily fished a stick float and feeder from the kayak too.
I have seen but never fished the Thames in your area. Are clubs welcoming to kayak/boat anglers? Perhaps there is the opportunity next year for a meet on that special river.
Spread the word Steve I think the great thing about the site is that there isn't anyone looking down their nose. We all have knowledge and if it is shared then the sport can develop and hopefully be more respected by the angling community at large. We are the only purely coarse kayak fishing site around and it seems many have been a bit lost on other forums as they do what they do best 'Sea Fishing' and we get drowned by their threads.

Hi Steve, fished the Thames as a boy through the Surrey area but never that stretch. Must be some more converts to kayak fishing around you that you'll discover.
All the best
Another Steve
