ive been doing alot of reading about single hook pike rigs J hooks and circle hooks, seems alot of the named pike anglers have been fishing this way for a good while with good success. anyone on here have any experience with single hook pike/zander fishing that that would like to share ? it seems to me it could have a edge over two trebles when it comes to safety ofthe fish. your thoughts please

Daz I only use single hooks when livebaiting I had this baby on a single Size 3/0 - 5/0 weedless hooks I have tried big sea hooks but the weedless one had better hook-ups I also fish weedless texas style for most of my soft plastics work

There is some chat about this on AA site Daz. Must say I don't like trebles and would like to go this way myself but I'm not very experienced with pike fishing, done it from the bank a few times but never made rigs only purchased them. Is it possible to buy single hook pike rigs ??

Hi sometimes use single hooks or even just one trebble if using small 3 to 6 inch baits. I will close 2 out 3 barbs on the trebbles to make life easyier if on a kayak or not.

Hi, I have used single hooks for year after deep hooking a pike and vowing never to do it again! I use 2 2\0 eagle wave hooks tied pennel rig style. I have not noticed a decline in the hook up rate, as the hooks are positioned one near the dorsal and one through the tail root. The hooks are fixed to the wire trace using a knot less knot and a rig sleeve pushed over, the swivel on the other end is just twisted, simple, believe me try it and you will never go back to trebles!

Thank you, I like the sound of that. Do I take it this set up is for dead bait fishing or is the same used for live bait. Phil

You can use it for live bait, just lip hook one and nick the other near the dorsal, I use it for all my pike fishing now, glad to be of help :0)
