Hi Phil
Kell wont be coming over this sunday but I will ask the baliff if you could take the boat on the lake. I would think that if he says you can, it would be in the restricted area set aside for jetski's in the summer. If you use the electric motor-----maybe, I will let you know.

Good luck Kell - from all the advice / books I've read that's the way to do it, get used to the Yak first, paddling techniques, all the safety aspect such as self recovery etc, as someone who has boat fished the rivers for many years this Yak game is a total new level safety wise, so for me fishing will be on the back burner until I am completely happy and confident when I'm out any bad situation that happens I have the knowledge to hopefully deal with it. Looks like your in good hands though. All the best John John, As a boat piker no doubt you have been working to the PAC guidelines which are a great starter for safety, you are just a little more vulnerable in a kayak. With common sense though you will be just as safe, if not safer than one or two boaters I have seen. The skills come and so do the fish and the fun. Your previous experiences will. I am sure, have already shown you some of the dangers of being afloat on a river. Terry

John there are canals and lakes available during the closed season.
One in particular that Philpot has found is Ashby Ville Lake in Scunthorpe. We shall be having a meet there so perhaps that would be a great chance to have a 'safe' paddle amongst friends.
