Yesterday I went fresh water fishing On Kev,s suggestion on going fresh water fishing, I can say my enthusiasm was low for this Then he mentioned that it was some one who i knew,s favorite trout spot and anything that i could wack on the head would deny him of these fish , So the game was on!!!! We arrived mid after noon at some water that did not look to have any tide run,, I was told fish like i do for bass an i should catch With no tide and too much fresh water for a bass i went any way ! The place we was fishing is called drified canal,,,froingham end Oh was that a secret WHOOPS !!! It was snowing and the wind took us all the way down to a structure known as a lock gate, these are big doors that make a big tide on one side and a small one on the other ,,,,very confusing these things,,like an artificial tide barrier there was an eddy that had been made by 2 rivers meeting ,,,i thought that looks bassy but no it was not!!!! i went to the strange river structure there was lots of fast water there so i thought a bass type fresh water fish may live there they don't ether by this time it was snowing quite hard!!! so i said lets go back up river tide !!! ,,,it was like a snowy wind tunnel and snowy i towed my 9cm g60 yo-zurie back up the snow wind tunnel river thingy,, i was told i may get a pike doing this this was another lie!!! there was none there i thought those pike are just toothy Pollock so my g60 should hammer them There was no fish and it was cold and it snowed hard with wind This was a very unsuccessful trip and put me off the river till its warmer and more river tide is running

Good effort Al - how do you fancy a swap?? As someone who's never paddled yet ( I've all the gear and no idea at the mo) whats the chances of meeting up once the rivers have shut in March ( just too busy persuing Pike at the mo), would love to have a go in the sea and if your prepared to laugh at me for a full day getting to grips with stuff I will gladly take you to some spots on the rivers in the summer for the chance if some big perch and in the autumn a chance of some nice Pike. All the best John
