Following on from Kell's post regarding his anchor trolley fitting and Decab's suggestion of using well nuts I thought I would show you something that I have found very good indeed. When I got my Torqeedo outboard motor, it came with both nuts and bolts but also some of these then I saw them in Lidl's one day so I bought the kit for £15 Okay, they are not stainless steel but with a smear of silicone on the fitting and screw, they work fine. They are very strong and extremely useful on the kayak when you can't use a nut and bolt. You must be able to buy a stainless version because that is what Torqeedo supply but I have not found who sells them. In my humble opinion they knock well nuts into the dim and distant past and in most cases I use these in preference to rivets. Phil

I've got some of those in plastic, they never really looked up to the job so didn't use them ............but metal...stainless even......I would swap my wellnuts for those tomorrow. Mind it would take a bit of careful measuring to get the right size and fit...worth it tho.

I would be happy to buy any stainless versions Graham. Phil

I use those from.wickes. Great for hollow wall fixing, although i have not seen amy for a while. B & Q used to.do a holloW wall plastic fitting.that could be used to hang cupboards but when i wanted some recenty they dont do.em anymore.
The othrr thing i have used are st/st self.tapping hex head steel cladding.screws. Drop a bit of evostick fix n repair adhesive in.the thread and they dont pull out.
The evostio is good from -30 to +130 deg c, will work when surfaces are damp. Is impervious to chlorinated and sea water abd has a very high sh ear and peel strenght.

I don't think so Terry. I use a S/S screw in them and a blob of silicone on the surface to bot keep water out but also protect the fitting. Interestingly, Torqeedo supply them with their motors as the anchors if you can't get a nut/bolt in place so I wonder if they are S/S, if so then I need to look in the German market----------------JK German team member, Eric.
