Anglian have done their risk assessment for kayak angling and we will be regarded as the same risk category as float tubers. Details below.
One point of note is that under their guide lines our PFD's do not offer the same level of safety for an unconscious person in the water as their life jackets so we will be required to wear theirs. Be aware of this if you use your PFD for storage. This point is NON-NEGOTIABLE and I think links to insurance.
Full fly, lure and dead baits opens 7th October, fly only for pike and trout from 1st October.
All the fishery rules are available from the links below but I will outline them briefly:
Phone on the day before to book as a max of 5 kayaks per day will be allowed.
Report to lodge/Ranger to purchase ticket and be recorded on the water.
Be off the water 30 minutes before end of boat fishing. This is to reduce any danger of boats and yaks at slipway together.
You may not be allowed to fish if winds are too strong, this applies to their boats as well.
You MUST carry a mobile phone, make sure you have the ranger's number saved.
Make sure you have an un-hooking mat and an adequate landing net.
Observe all rules the Ranger may notify you of.
Be aware of other boats and if you drift or anchor observe courtesy and do not block another boats drift.
Do not encroach on water being covered by bank anglers.
