And how are your mounts fitted and what style, makes a difference to the butt length available and your reach to strike etc, do you mind cutting down, what do you want in your own mind ? were all different and I think you'll find all sorts in use out there,I use a 12lb boat rod, 7tf, wouldn't use it on the bank, but it suits me on a yak, try what you have before you buy something else,or borrow , you might be surprised what suits you.

I tried to haggle the other day at a second hand shop, only had a fiver and no card for machine,(they wanted £15), they had a bit worn carp rod which would suit me fine, it only struck me as I left that if its still there in a week or two they would be more willing for a deal with a couple of reels as well,!Might be a good idea for anyone looking for a carp rod to cut down for the yak.

10-30g spinning rods, they can handle trolled pike and bass and can handle live and dead baits, with care on the larger baits. Nice and sporting.

I use a 10-40g lure rod for lure fishing and a 8-12lb class boat rod for deadbeats. Both work well for the job.

I have a selection of telescopic rod that I use for my freshwater kayak/canoe fishing, they are really easy to setup within the confines of the kayakas, whet not not in use they pack away small enough to stow easily out of the way within the kayak wilst fishing.

There are quite a few decent telescopics on the market and the certainly are space savers.

I have one I take on holiday, I hide it the bottom of the suitcase -the row we had lasttime because we paid for extra weight ! But it does go down small ,and is quite strong.
