Well I have got some excellent flies from Phil, I will post pics soon, highly recommended. Ask him for prices. And a few more coming from Sam's mate so I should be sorted there. Still waiting on someone to come back to me on a nice looking Shimano rod that should be a good price. Looked a lot at reels. I have had cassette reels before and liked the simplicity. I wanted one that would take #9 & #10. Looked around and the Wychwood Truefly SLA #9 to #11 looked the part. So I ordered one and it arrived this morning. Looks great and has a really nice clutch on it. www.flyfishing.co.uk/news/index.php?news=5722 Pictures to come. After advice from Phil I looked at the Jim Teeny Lines and they look great, not cheap but they have great reviews so as soon as I have the rod sorted I will be getting one possibly two lines. Roll on Llangorse and the start of the season at Pitsford. Sssh. Don't tell Steph. Terry

I have been sent a few new pike fly designs from a guy in Denmark which look very good indeed so I am putting in an order for a load of materials to start producing flies for anyone who wants them. I am very sad to hear that the Pike Shack is closing down which means I have to start the search for pike fly materials, not always so easy to get hold of because the usual fly shops don't carry all the extra large materials we use. I have been in touch with an American manufacturer for supply and perhaps even be become the importer for these goods so watch this space.
The Wychwood reel was one that I very nearly bought myself but was lucky enough to find a Vision GT 10/11 saltwater on ebay and as I want to do some fly fishing in the salty stuff, seemed ideal for me.
Good luck with the fly fishing Terry but I warn you, it is addictive

That's the problem Daz, when we cannot go fishing we spend money preparing for fishing!

Here are Phil's excellent flies: I hope I get the names right....top to bottom as Phil listed them: Golden popper-- with foam head. Glitter bug-- olive/yellow with gold flashabou Philpot's sparkler-- red/grey head with rainbow flashabou. this is the one that is used at Chew Valley on the TV programme with Tarrant that I have copied and added a bit. Marabou barred perch-- dark green marabou feathers Blood zonker jive bunny-- red head with 2 long zonker fur tail Baitfish perch-- green/brown Baitfish roach-- white/blue with head set back down the shank And this is the Wychwood Truefly SLA (Super Large Arbour) size #9-#11, ideal for piking. It comes in a hard fabric case that holds the reel and two spare spools. Inside Spool release is dead easy, a few turns on this threaded knob. Just pull the cassette off and put back on by aligning two red dots. The frame really is a thing of beauty. And the clutch is increased/decreased by this knob which clicks nicely and can be locked right down. It feel really smooth with a subdued ratchet sound. I like the weight and feel of this reel...quality all the way. Getting excited now. Terry

The reel does look spot Terry and very well presented. Just a quick correction on the flies, second one down is the Marabou barred perch and the forth one down is the Glitter bug but what the hell, you were close Phil
